Employment / Vice President of Finance
SUMMARY
The Vice President of Finance is responsible for: directing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting; analyzing the company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets; issuing regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management along with assisting senior management in financial planning and results management; developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting; ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serving as a conduit of Christ’s love in an effort to point others to Jesus through actions and words
- Overseeing and directing all aspects of accounting operations, oversee all transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, development, payroll, and financial reporting
- Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets
- Issuing regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management
- Developing and coordinating all relationships with lending/financial institutions
- Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting, ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles,
- Assisting senior management in financial planning and results management, working with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers, and defining appropriate reports for tracking
- Recommending benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
- Developing an annual budget, including a three-year projection
- Coordinating and overseeing the various audits and providing recommendations for procedural improvements
- Collecting and submitting all necessary information for 990 information return preparation
- Coordinating preparation and filing of tax schedules and returns, including those related to payroll, 1099’s, and 1098-T’s
- Coordinating and participating in compliance with state registrations for solicitation and Charitable Gift Annuities
- Coordinating and overseeing all investments and investment relationships
- Managing relationships with insurance providers
- Managing cash flow
- Participating in Investment Committee, Finance Committee, and Board Meetings
- Monitoring formal internal control policies and procedures
- Other finance and administrative duties as required
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
- CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required
- 7-10 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience required
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work without direct supervision and efficiently manage tasks and time
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license.

All new employees are required to pass a physical examination, be tested for and be free of TB and be tested for and free of Hepatitis B (or start the Hepatitis B vaccination series), all within the 90 days immediately prior to starting employment. Shepherds assumes payment for the cost of the physical and TB test as described above and will pay the cost of the chest x-ray and reading if one is required as well as any Hepatitis B testing or immunization. All additional costs are assumed by the employee.
