What is Shepherds College Preview Experience?
Shepherds College Preview Experience (SCPE) delivers four summer days of fun, friendship, and growth packed into a transformational college learning experience uniquely designed for students between 16 to 29 years old with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Centered on the belief that everyone is created on and for a purpose, this program will help students discover their God-given purpose and maximize their potential as they learn the Shepherds College philosophy of Appropriate IndependenceTM in interactive and engaging ways.
Shepherds College Preview Week offers students introductory training in:
- Work Exploration
- Daily Living
- Social Skills
- Faith Formation
- and students will receive a FREE one-year membership to Shepherds College Online (a $300 value)
Locations, Dates, and Cost
Plano, Texas | July 16 - 20
- Location: Prestonwood Baptist Church - 6801 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093
- Schedule
- Registration - Sunday Evening, July 16th
- Programming - Monday, July 17th through Thursday, July 20th
- Cost: Reduced from $625 to $325 for all registrations received on or before May 31, 2023!
Dallas, Georgia | July 23 - 27
- Location: West Ridge Church - 3522 Hiram Acworth Hwy, Dallas, GA 30157
- Schedule
- Registration - Sunday, July 23rd
- Programming - Monday, July 24th through Thursday, July 27th
- Cost: Reduced from $625 to $325 for all registrations received on or before May 31, 2023!
Admissions Criteria
- Students going into their Junior year of High School up to age twenty-nine
- Have a diagnosed IDD, or significant learning challenges
- Function with little to no attendant care
- Be motivated and have an eagerness to learn
- Have the ability to receive information and instruction from staff and provide responses and feedback when necessary
- Have acceptable social behavior verified by school, family, or another source
- Be free from communicable diseases
- Have the desire to live independently and have a family that supports that goal
- Have minimal medical needs – require no more than 3 hours per week of nursing care
- Agree to abide by the SCPE Student Agreement established by Shepherds College
- Provide copies of psychological, medical, and behavioral history*
- Have no current or recent thoughts and/or record of harming self or others
- Demonstrate a history of good citizenship and the ability to follow rules
- Must notify Shepherds College of any and all arrests and/or convictions; Shepherds College will determine eligibility based on the severity of the criminal activity

Interested individuals should request an Application for Admission by filling out the Inquiry Form.

- Psychological Evaluation (preferably in the last three years)
- Possible virtual meeting/phone interview as requested by the SCPE application team
