Employment / Accounts Receivable Specialist
SUMMARY
The AR Specialist supports the daily activities of the accounts receivable function of the business office. This includes collating the appropriate paperwork for processing which may include entering the relevant data into Excel spreadsheets or into the accounting software. This position requires critical thinking skills and an awareness to being sensitive to privileged information. Hours: Full-Time; 40 hours/week; 1st shift hours Monday – Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Able to work efficiently and complete assignments timely.
- Effectively and accurately use Blackbaud AR module to record all billing and payments to the correct customer account
- Generate timely monthly private pay invoices
- Generate and monitor invoices/claims for third-party agencies and communicate with various agencies regarding unpaid claims.
- Regular review of AR balances to include collection calls for past due accounts.
- Set up and maintain approved auto-recurring payments
- Gather information to prepare annual 1098-T’s and for the IRS filing
- Contribute to the creation of policies and procedures in Accounts Receivable and the Business Department
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be proficient in data entry.
- Must possess intermediate math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Thoroughness in completing assignments.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.

Employee must complete a TB skin test and a physical exam which certifies freedom from communicable disease within 90 days before beginning employment. Medical documentation of TB skin test results and physical exam must be submitted to the Human Resources Department prior to beginning employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma is required; A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred; Work-related experience with preference given to candidates who have experience in AP/AR and general ledger responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
